Rig Rundown 2022

Intro

Hey everyone, how’s it going? Well, I thought about showing you some of my gear today and, you know, just to show you how I work, how I set up everything. Nothing too fancy, but let’s get into it.

ES335

Okay, so this is my main guitar. It’s an ES335 2006. I got it just before going to Berklee, or maybe before even that. And yeah, so I really love it. I just replaced the head, the machine heads to locking tuners, and re-threaded the guitar as well as a new bridge, and it works perfect. I really love this guitar. It’s the main guitar I like recording with and, uh, yeah, that’s that one.

Ibanez

Okay, so this guitar is an Ibanez. It’s a Frank on Bali custom, and it’s beautiful and it stays in tune forever. The pickups have been modified so I can be able to switch into singles instead of being only on humbuckers, and I usually use that setup all the time. It gives it a more mellow sound. It’s a beautiful guitar, very easy to play. Everyone who plays it is really surprised by how easy to play it is, and it was made in 1988, if I recall correctly. And yeah, so it’s about my age. Awesome guitar.

Charville

Well, this is actually my first guitar. I got that for my Bar Mitzvah, and it’s been my first guitar. I’ve been playing all my Prague rock years with that one as well as another one that I sold. It has locking tuners and some Demarcus pickups, which are cool but not my taste anymore. I would definitely replace them as well as the bridge as soon as possible. It plays great, sounds great. Good guitar, just a solid Fender with weird pickups in it.

Taylor

So this is my baby Taylor, and I really love this guitar. I bought it back in Boston just because I felt like sometimes, you know, in Boston it’s very cold but then there’s beautiful days. And when there’s beautiful days, you want to use those days to go practice in the park. So I still use this guitar as a travel guitar if I just want to practice somewhere I’m going and I don’t want to carry too much gear. It also has a pickup in it so I can record and plug it, and I actually even sometimes use it for some small recordings and even some gigs. It’s a great guitar. It sounds really good.

Pedals

Okay, so I do have a few more pedals, of course, but these are the main ones that really help me on the go. This is an HX Stomp by Line 6. You know, if I need to use amp models or all kinds of effects, I’ll use that. This is the Oznoy ACRC. I really love that pedal, very transparent, and it just adds beautiful tones to whatever amp I connect to. This Extra Z1 is really, really cool. I don’t know if you can see it right, so it’s basically really coloring the tone. It’s just giving, you know, adding some compression, some overdrive, and some color, really opening up and giving all those rich overtones to any direct situation or amp I’m using. Really love that one.

Guitar Picks

So when it comes to guitar picks, these are my picks. I pick Chicken Picks, and it’s a 3.2. And I also use the same one in the 2.5.

Setup

When it comes to making content and getting the most out of my time, I really wanted to have a very simple setup that I can capture and just upload. So that’s why my DSLR is right here, my lights are here, my Elgato Wave One microphone condenser microphone is right here. Mainly this is my setup: this is my DSLR with an HDMI cable into a capture card, and I’m just recording like that. It’s very easy that I don’t need to set up everything all the time. Each time I want to make a video, in my previous setup, I did have to do that and it took a lot of energy for me.

These are two lights I just got on Wish for really cheap. Mic stands are pretty good. And that’s it. I’m using a wireless mouse and keyboard and this Elgato microphone, a condenser microphone, which is pretty good. I actually just got it yesterday, still testing it out. Some JBL monitors, nothing too fancy, and I definitely need to get a new sound card. Yep, so you know, it’s a small room. I have some GIK acoustic panels here that I need to hang up properly. I also have one behind my desk, and I just ordered two that I can put on the ceiling and on the sides. I’m missing one here and one here. So, acoustic-wise, this can be improved for sure. Always using a rug, and here’s a complete mess from the previous shot.

OBS Software

And what about the software? So the software I’m using is OBS. It allows me to do all kinds of stuff. So let me show you.

So first of all, it allows me to do this. It’s a free software, by the way. You can just download it for free. Let’s play capture. Here we go. So, you know, you can see my screen now and then I can explain what’s going on. So yeah, basically, I just added my Elgato Wave One into here, so that’s one channel. I locked it, so you know, there’s no changes in volume and stuff. Video, you can see I’m using my USB card with preset on high. And when it comes to preferences, just to set it up. These are those I tried a bunch of these, and this works the best. Maybe it’s not the best quality I can get, but I’m still working on it. These are the setups I tried a bunch, and these work for me. They might work for you, I don’t know.

Yeah, so it’s pretty cool. I like that. Another thing that is really cool about it is that if I want to do color correction and I don’t have time to edit, I already have color correction right here. You see this is without color correction, and this is with. So I’m automatically filming with color correction, which is pretty dope. I’m still new to this software, but there’s a lot to learn. It’s pretty awesome. Looking forward to streaming with those and doing some live. Oh, another thing is that you have these groups which you can add stuff. So let’s say I’m doing a live stream and I’m talking and I want to show my website. So here it is, my website.
